Kindergarten

Mrs. Ellis : Teacher

Mrs. Ellis | Teacher

My Email: rachel.ellis@washk12.org

Mrs. Ellis is excited to be joining the kindergarten team at Sunset! She graduated from Southern Utah University with her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Reading Minor, and she can’t wait to get her students started unlocking the magic of books. Kindergarten is a very critical time to get excited about school and build an educational foundation, and she is honored to be a part of this special time in students’ lives. She spent the last two years as a reading interventionist working with students in every grade at Sunset and loves the teachers, administration, staff, and especially families at our school.

Obviously, reading and teaching reading are her favorite things. Mrs. Ellis also loves connecting with her friends, organizing and making lists, completing creative projects, and she particularly loves singing, dancing, and dressing up. She loves to play games and thinks learning is most effective when you’re enjoying yourself. She is married to the love of her life and has four children. She loves traveling and watching movies with her family, and when she isn’t at school you’re most likely to find her in her hammock or snuggling with her dog, Toby.

Mrs. Campbell : Teacher

Mrs. Campbell | Teacher

My Email: shelli.campbell@washk12.org

Mrs. Campbell has wanted to be a teacher since she was three years old. That goal never changed, so when it was time to go to college, knowing what to major in was an easy choice. Mrs. Campbell received her teaching degree from SUU in 1998 and immediately began teaching kindergarten (the best grade!) at Washington Elementary. Three years later, Mrs. Campbell had her first child and quit to be a full-time mom. The love of teaching never left her, so she opened a preschool from her home. She has been teaching preschool for the past 15 years. Now that her children aren't little anymore she is excited to teach Kindergarten here at Sunset Elementary!

Mrs. Campbell has been married to Ben Campbell for 25 years. He teaches 5th grade at Red Mountain Elementary. They have three fantastic children that make her biggest hobby taking care of them! She is the oldest of 8 siblings, most of whom live in St. George, so she is blessed to spend time with them and her nieces and nephews! She is happiest when playing, singing and having fun! She loves to watch Tuacahn plays, plan lessons, read, talk on the phone, play games, and go swimming! Mrs. Campbell's goal is to share her enthusiasm for life and learning with the children she will be teaching in kindergarten!

Mrs. Doty : OEK Teacher

Mrs. Doty | OEK Teacher

My Email: jean.doty@washk12.org

Mrs. Doty enjoys teaching Kindergarten at Sunset Elementary. She graduated from BYU in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She has had the opportunity in her career to teach preschool, kindergarten, first, and second grades, but feels most at home as part of the great Kindergarten team at Sunset. Mrs. Doty enjoys working with these young learners who are so eager to be at school and are anxious to do their best. Though kindergarten has become much more academic, we have fun each day as we learn the things we need to know.

Mrs. Doty is married and is the mother of four grown children and a dog, and the grandmother of three. She loves spending time with her family. She also enjoys reading (of course!), and sewing, and gardening. She loves the varied and amazing beauty of southern Utah and likes to be outdoors experiencing it through hiking, kayaking, and exploring.
